Arper

seating, tables

Italian made for forty years. Good design is a synthesis of technique, cost, material, function, use, taste and sustainability. That concentration of meanings, associations and possibilities must reside in simple, singular forms. We believe the best objects carry a rich, intellectual density in a shape that seems natural and effortless. An object that feels spontaneous while clearly the result of rigor and precision. Creating new forms that are physically and stylistically resilient is hard work, but this is the work we embrace. This way of thinking and working – the pursuit of the essential – extends to everything we do.

Emeco

Emeco makes the best chairs possible. They make them to last a lifetime. In fact, they are guaranteed to last almost two lifetimes (150 years). Emeco works with the world’s best designers to create products that will not only stand up, but stand the test of time and grow more beautiful with age. Today, Emeco is on the leading edge of a revolution in product development that promises a new, more intelligent and sustainable way of life. They’ve been working on it for a long time. It’s great to see the world is catching on.

Stylex

seating

In 1956, the Golden family launched Stylex to address opportunities they perceived for more refined seating. Their idea was not simply to be a better seating manufacturer, but also to understand seating better…how it is used and how it complements its surrounding environment.

Today, the company is owned and run by Bruce and John Golden. While much has changed over more than 50 years, the foundation and vision on which the company was built remains. Our goal is to apply our experiences together with an enterprising, inventive spirit. There’s no ‘second string’ at Stylex, and everyone from our CEO to our receptionist works with customers, specifiers, and designers every day. That, in turn, lets us better understand and more rapidly refine the aesthetics, performance, value and service that create truly engaging products.

Kay Chesterfield

reupholstery, seat pads, pillows, cushions

Founded in 1921, Kay Chesterfield is the Bay Area’s premiere source for reupholstery and related furniture services. With active owners and broad industry experience, Kay Chesterfield brings substantial knowledge and invaluable management skills to each project. Residential customers, office furniture dealers, interior designers, facility managers, business owners, architects, materials managers, and purchasing agents come to them with jobs ranging from one chair to an entire office.

With increasing demand to minimize the environmental impact of interiors projects, reupholstering is a way to extend the life of an existing piece of furniture and allows for the reuse of the wood frame thus reducing wood harvesting. It also allows for complete freedom of choice of upholstery materials.
